About This Place

Situated at 101 Navy St in Hancock, Michigan, The Waterfront Restaurant & Upper Deck Lounge serves up a delightful slice of American cuisine complemented by stunning views of the Portage Lake Bridge. This inviting spot offers a warm, casual dining atmosphere perfect for savoring hearty meals with friends or family, whether inside their spacious dining room or outside on the patio.

The menu shines with classic American favorites distinctly prepared to please every palate. Their ribs are succulent and tender, boasting a smoky richness that keeps diners coming back for more. The sweet potato waffle fries add a delightful twist—a crispy, golden exterior with a subtle sweetness that balances perfectly with the savory mains. Another highlight is the fresh Lake trout, which is skillfully cooked to preserve its moist texture and delicate flavor, evoking the freshness of local waters with every bite. Don’t overlook the crispy onion rings, which provide a satisfying crunch to round out your meal.

From the first forkful, it’s clear this restaurant values generous portions and quality ingredients. Longtime guests like Capt Jim LaBeske rave about the hearty servings, noting that even sharing an entrée and salad often leaves enough for leftovers. Customers like Daniel Teter praise the tenderness and flavor of the steak and the perfectly cooked trout, painting a picture of a memorable dining experience enhanced by attentive waitstaff and bartenders who make guests feel right at home.

The Waterfront Restaurant also benefits from its location inside the Ramada Inn, making it a convenient and cozy stop for travelers and locals alike. Kevin Tracy’s review points out the comfortable and relaxed setting, with beautiful views that add an extra layer of enjoyment to mealtime. While he found the lake trout slightly under-seasoned, the substitution-friendly kitchen and attentive service more than compensated, making it a dining destination worth repeating.

For those looking for tasty bar bites, Jeff Thompson recommends the potato skins and the signature waterfront roast beef sandwich—both embodying the same care in preparation and robust flavors found throughout the menu.

Whether you’re drawn by the inviting American fare, the friendly and professional service, or the scenic waterfront ambiance, The Waterfront Restaurant & Upper Deck Lounge promises a gratifying experience that leaves diners feeling satisfied and eager to return.

Great food, reasonable prices, Huge portions (my wife and I order one entree and an extra salad... and still take home leftovers)! Great waitstaff & bartenders. Large dining room plus seating for another 50 in the attached Bar Room.

The food was outstanding. The girlfriend commented on how tender and flavorful the ribeye steak was. The lake trout was done to perfection moist and very tasty. The service and the backdrop was wonderful. Will come back everytime in the area.

Restaurant is located in the Ramada Inn in Hancock. Great views of the Portage Lake Bridge from the dining room and outside seating. Very casual and cozy. Ordered the lake trout dinner and they're substitution friendly. Meal was reasonably priced but the trout was lacking something in seasonings. Service was great! I would eat here again.

Service was good, and was the food. Recommend the potato skins and The waterfront roast beef sandwich.
